About the Event
Multidisciplinary group exhibition ‘PULP ART’ is on display at The Queanbeyan Hive from 22 September – 6 October 2019. The exhibition celebrates the role of paper as an art form and a contemporary artistic medium. From drawings, paintings and prints to collage and sculptural works, each artist presents their own distinctive style and approach to using paper, as well as communicating their own unique perspective.
The artists involved in the creation of ‘PULP ART’ are Janet Parker-Smith, Denise Moule, Rachel Roberts, and the collaborative group known as the Peculiar Annes – Janet Parker-Smith, Claude Jones and Cleo Gardiner.
Paper-based works of art are as diverse and timeless as paper itself; they are a critical part of our visual arts culture. As high consumers of paper, many artists revel in this intimate tactile material, which is easy to use, and at the same time, experimental. Great ideas are started on paper, and it can be manipulated in delicate and unusual ways to transform it into pieces of artwork.
‘PULP ART’ offers a stimulating assortment of collectible art that deals with a range of concepts, questions and experiences, united by the highly-personal, relatable material – paper. It invites audiences to return to paper; a substance that continues to open up new creative.
